Opening Kensington Gold Mine
Final 404 Permit Release for Kensington Mine
“Why not shoot the tailings to the moon?" Sure, anything is “economic” under some set of assumptions, so why not just shoot it to the moon.” How silly. Coeur’s proposal for Slate Lake tailings disposal is responsible, environmentally friendly, and supports an economically robust project. That’s best for us, our families and our neighbors throughout Southeast Alaska. The Forest Service EIS chose Slate Lake as the environmentally preferred alternative. It is also the economically preferred alternative. If the US Supreme Court agrees, it would be irresponsible to do anything else.
